The rules.

Everything that happens with your money, explained.

Challenges

How a challenge works

  • The challenge creator sets the distance target, round length (weekly or monthly), entry fee, and minimum number of participants.
  • The challenge activates once the minimum number of participants have paid by the start date.
  • If not enough people join by the start date, the challenge is cancelled and everyone is fully refunded.
  • Runs sync automatically from Apple Health. Any app that writes to HealthKit counts (Strava, Nike Run Club, etc.).
  • A run's start time determines which round it counts toward. If your run starts before the round ends, it counts.

Rounds

Round outcomes

Every round ends with one of four results:

  • Passed — You hit the target. If anyone else missed theirs, you get a share of their entry fees.
  • Failed — You missed the target. Your entry fee is split between the people who passed.
  • Washed — Nobody hit the target. No money moves. Everyone keeps their entry fee and continues.
  • Excused — Admin override for injuries, tech issues, or special circumstances. You continue as if the round didn't happen. You don't contribute to the pot and don't earn from it.

Re-enrollment

What happens after you fail

  • If you fail a round, you can re-enroll by paying a new entry fee.
  • You rejoin the next round as if you were a new participant.
  • Your previous earnings from rounds you passed are not affected.

Money

Fees and distribution

  • You pay the entry fee plus a 10% platform fee when you join. Same applies if you re-enroll after a failure.
  • The pot for each round is made up of entry fees from everyone who failed that round.
  • The pot is split equally among the people who passed. Any remainder from rounding goes to the platform (usually pennies).
  • If everyone passes a round, no money moves. Everyone keeps their entry fee.
  • The platform fee is non-refundable once the challenge is active.
Example: 10 people join at £100 each. In round 1, 8 pass and 2 fail. The pot is £200 (2 x £100). Each passer earns £25 (£200 / 8).

Payouts

Getting paid

  • Payouts are processed when the challenge ends.
  • You need a Stripe Connect account to receive payouts. You can set this up in the app.
  • You have 30 days to claim your payout after the challenge ends.
  • Unclaimed payouts after 30 days go to the platform.
  • You'll get push notifications reminding you to claim at day 1, 7, 21, and 28.

Cancellations

Cancellations and refunds

  • If a challenge is cancelled before the start date, you get a full refund (entry fee + platform fee).
  • No refunds once a challenge is active.
  • The challenge admin can cancel at any time before the challenge starts.

Fair play

Verification and overrides

  • All runs are verified via Apple Health data.
  • The challenge admin can excuse a participant for legitimate reasons like injury or tech issues.
  • All results, standings, and money movements are visible to every participant in the challenge.
